The Showdown ends the Strikers’ mission series in Starfield. This is also where your loyalty to the Strikers will be tested.
“The Showdown” serves as the ultimate side mission within Starfield’s Strikers storyline, bringing an end to the ongoing gang conflict with the Disciples.
Once you’ve signaled the Strikers’ resurgence by hacking various signs throughout the city, it’s time to prepare for the climactic Final Showdown, where only one gang can emerge as the victor. Your decisions during this critical moment will wield significant influence over the unfolding events.
To assist you on this journey, we’ve assembled a comprehensive guide offering a step-by-step walkthrough of “The Showdown” side quest in Starfield. Let’s embark on this adventure together.
How to unlock the Showdown mission
To gain access to the “Showdown” mission in Starfield, you must first successfully complete “Display of Power” and then revisit Neon City to have a conversation with Vogal Fuches.
Vogal Fuches can be located at Madame Sauvage’s Place within the Ebbside District. While you’re there, you also have the option to confer with Briggs, who shares insights into the latest Strikers’ strategies.
As the mission name suggests, “The Showdown” marks the culmination of the Strikers’ storyline, where you’ll ultimately bring an end to the Disciples gang.
How to complete The Showdown in Starfield
Vogal will provide you with information on three known Disciple hangout locations. Your task is to visit each of these locations and neutralize the Disciples to regain control of these areas.
As you progress, you may receive an enticing offer from the Disciples to align with them. Opting for this path entails eliminating the Strikers’ leadership.
If you remain loyal to the Strikers, it will culminate in a climactic showdown within Starfield, taking place in a warehouse where you’ll decisively eliminate the Disciples once and for all. With an overview of the mission’s dynamics in mind, let’s delve into the specifics.
Eliminate the Disciple hangouts
After getting the locations of the Disciples hangouts from Vogal, you must head over to each location and eliminate any Disciple in your sight.
Location 1
To find the initial group, follow the objective marker to Ebbside and take the elevator to the Underbelly.
Proceed to the Xenofresh Fisheries Factory, where you’ll encounter the Disciple gang members.
At this point, you have two options: either engage in immediate combat upon sighting them or attempt to peacefully persuade them to depart.
It’s worth noting that this group won’t be initially hostile when you approach them and is open to persuasion. We strongly advise opting for the peaceful course of action, as it can yield greater benefits down the road.
Location 2
Once you’ve dealt with the initial hangout, trace the objective marker to the second Disciple gathering spot. This rival group is situated on the far side of Ebbside, inside one of the warehouses.
In contrast to the first group, who were open to negotiation, this group of Disciples will engage in combat upon detecting your presence. Consequently, your only recourse is to defend yourself.
Your objective is to eliminate every member of the rival gang and purge this area of the Disciples. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to recover valuable loot from their lifeless bodies, which may include weapons and ammunition.
Location 3
The third Disciples Hangout, under the leadership of Holt Henley, presents the ultimate test of your allegiance. You can locate this hangout in Warehouse 02 within Ebbside.
Holt will extend an offer for you to betray the Strikers and align with the Disciples in exchange for a sum of credits. You have the choice to either decline or accept this offer by selecting the dialogue option, ‘I could use the credits.’
If you maintain your loyalty to the Strikers and reject Holt’s proposal of betrayal, your task will involve eliminating Holt and his entire crew.
Conversely, if you opt to align with the Disciples, you’ll be tasked with eliminating the Strikers’ leaders at Madame Sauvage’s Place.
Retrieve armor for the Strikers (optional)
If you engaged in a conversation with Briggs at the beginning of “The Showdown” mission in Starfield, he would have provided you with an optional task to acquire armor from Newill’s Store to equip yourself for the impending final assault.
Make your way to the Ikuchi Marker located in Neon’s Core and locate James Newill’s store. Newill will present the armor with an initial price tag of 8000 credits, but you have the option to negotiate for a discount, potentially reducing the cost to 5000 credits.
Once you have secured the armor from Newill’s, return to rendezvous with the Strikers, as it’s time to make final preparations for the decisive confrontation against the Disciples.
The Final Showdown
Following your rendezvous with the Strikers, it’s time to gear up for the ultimate confrontation in the Final Showdown, where you will launch an assault on the Disciples within the final warehouse. During this skirmish, you have the option to engage the enemy either solo or with the aid of your Striker comrades.
The battle won’t present greater complexity than the previous encounters that led you to this point. Your mission is straightforward: eliminate all adversaries within your field of vision.
Once you’ve vanquished every last Disciple in the warehouse, you will have effectively concluded the gang rivalry, with the Strikers emerging as the triumphant gang.
The Strikers and Neon Security
Following the successful elimination of the Disciples within the Final Warehouse, you’ll encounter Owen Dexler. He’ll extend an offer to the Strikers, proposing their integration into Neon Security as a means of recompense for the extensive damage incurred.
For the Strikers, this proposition will leave them with little recourse but to accept if they wish to depart from Ebbside. Following this development, engage in a conversation with Briggs, who will express his gratitude and reward you for the mission’s successful completion.
Should you side with Strikers or Disciples in Starfield?
If you agree to betray the Strikers, you’ll have to head to Madame Sauvage’s Place and eliminate the leaders of the Strikers. These include Briggs, Hatchet, Andrea, and Vogal.
If you side with the Strikers, you’ll eliminate Holt and his crew. After that, you’ll proceed with the mission and head to the Final Warehouse, eliminating the Disciples and ending the Strikers Storyline in Starfield.
Based on which option you choose, you’ll get different sets of rewards in The Showdown in Starfield:
Rewards for Siding with the Disciples:
- Street Sweeper Rare Pistol
- Stack of ten 6.65mm CT bullets
- Credits: 6000
- EXP: 100
Rewards for Siding with the Strikers:
- Street Sweeper Rare Pistol
- Stack of ten 6.65mm CT bullets
- Credits: 5000
- EXP: 100
- 10000 Credits (If you got armor from Newill’s)
In our assessment, the most favorable choice in this scenario is to align with the Strikers and dismantle the Disciples. This course of action proves superior due to the more substantial rewards it offers, including the opportunity to amass valuable loot, earn experience points (XP), and accumulate Credits while vanquishing the Disciples. Furthermore, you’ll receive a refund for the credits you expended to procure the armor from Newill’s.
Starfield – The Showdown bugs and fixes
Players have noted several bugs within the “The Showdown” mission in Starfield, and we will provide guidance on how to prevent or rectify them:
Owen Dexler Hostile in Sight
Typically, following the successful warehouse assault, Owen Dexler should initiate a conversation with you. However, an issue has arisen where players have reported that encountering Owen can lead to hostility between him and the Strikers, thereby preventing any dialogue between the two parties.
This problem arises if you’ve inadvertently harmed innocent civilians while clearing out the Disciples’ hangouts. Such actions result in a bounty being placed on your head, triggering Owen’s aggressive response.
To resolve this issue, it is necessary to restart the quest with the objective of neutralizing the Disciples’ hangouts. In your second attempt, ensure that you refrain from causing harm to any civilians, and this should help avoid encountering this bug.
Hostility of the Strikers
In the course of your mission, should you unintentionally harm any Striker members, this unfortunate turn of events will lead the Strikers to view you as an adversary. Consequently, you’ll find yourself unable to advance any further in the quest.
To resolve this predicament, your best course of action is to depart the planet and remain aboard your ship for a period of 48 hours. After this waiting period elapses, return to the planet, and you should find that all Striker members have returned to their usual amicable disposition.
