“Dance Monkey” singer says she hates her song
The singer regrets that she created a hit. Toni Watson, performing under the pseudonym Tones And I, began her career as a street singer. However, in 2019, the girl recorded her second solo single “Dance Monkey”, which brought her worldwide fame.
The track peaked at number one on the UK chart for 11 weeks and also held a record 24 weeks on the ARIA Singles Chart. The single has been listened to over 7 billion times, but Toni herself would be glad never to listen to it again.
While performing in her native Australia, Toni spoke to reporters and revealed that she recently attended a hit writing workshop in Los Angeles. Most of the participants would like to know from the singer how she managed to turn the track “Dance Monkey” into a world banger. Tony admitted that she does not want to create hits anymore, and this track is not ready to listen at all:
“It was a very good experience for me. For example, I wrote this song on my own, not trying to do something extraordinary, but it happened. I don’t want to try to keep up with this song. I kind of hate this song most of the time. I don’t want to sing it. I’m not going to write another song like this, I just want to tell people how I feel.”
